'switchativideomode' is a tool used to change the video mode of an ATI
card supported by the 'fglrx' official ATI driver (tested with version 3.2.8
for Linux and XFree86 4.3.0).
This tool cannot be separated from its 'XF86Config-fglrx*' XFree86
configuration files located in the '/etc/X11/' directory. Without these files,
this utility is useless.
The default configuration files are prepared for the HP Compaq NX7000
laptop, but they can be adapted and extended to other computers.
'switchativideomode' can be used if the XWindow server is not active.
Use it to correct a misconfiguration that prevents the launch of the XWindow
server.
'switchativideomode' manages the following video modes:

- standard: 16/10 1280x800x24 (default) and 4/3 1024x768x24 (with aspect ratio
            respect),

- mirror: needs a 2nd monitor or projector, displays the exact copy of the 1st
monitor on the 2nd display device,

- extended: needs a 2nd monitor or projector, extends, at left or at right,
the physical display area to the 2nd display device,

- virtual: extends the display area with an extra virtual area, using
the same physical display area. To access to the extra display area
you must scroll verticaly or horizontaly the mouse cursor,

- virtual mirror: needs a 2nd monitor or projector, composition of the mirror
and virtual video modes: the virtual display area is mirrored
                 to the 2nd display device.
