Chemical engineering

Chemical engineering is at the crossroads of several fields which use knowledge and know-how for the transformation of raw or synthetic materials into more elaborated products through a succession of operations.  A chemical engineer’s role is to design a transformation process, manage its development from the laboratory to the industrial level, and optimize operations.

Objectives

The main objective of UTC's Chemical Engineering curriculum is totrain general chemical engineers who, when graduating, are immediately able to work in various industrial fields: chemistry, parachemistry, petroleum, agro-food. The curriculum is based on fundamental topics such as thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, transfer phenomena, reactor calculations with a strong background in mathematical and computer calculations.

Areas of specialization

  •  Agro-industry
  •  Management of industrial processes
  •  Quality, Safety, Environment
  •  Thermodynamics & energy

The cross-departmental specialization "Innovative project management" can be chosen besides these four specializations which is open to  students of all departments.
