PhDs' (3 years)

UTC's PhD programs prepare students to be scientifically and professionally flexible and adaptable due to close contact between our research labs and industry. Our PhD students are closely supervised during their thesis and they are guided in determining their career choices.

Personalized guidance for choosing a career

  •  optional program preparing PhD students to understand current issues related to research, development and innovation activities and employment (i-doc)
  •  language & communication courses, as well as courses on getting acquainted with the professional environment. These courses are offered from the first semester on, to improve the efficiency of young researchers in communication techniques & methods
  •  distance tutorial program called INSECTE to help PhD students & teachers prepare their future careers
  •  various seminars (Entrepreneurship, Organization for technology transfer, Introduction to European policy & programs…)
  •  seminars to raise awareness on where & how to find positions in industry & academia

International dimension

UTC encourages PhD students to give an international dimension to their thesis work in three ways :

  •  Co-supervised thesis : to establish and develop scientific collaboration between ours and foreign research units by encouraging PhD student mobility
  •  European PhD : an additional title awarded to PhD students who have partially prepared their thesis during at least one trimester in another EU country
  •  Agreements have been signed with several universities in many countries (Germany, China, Vietnam, Mexico & Lebanon)  allowing PhD students to spend a research stay in foreign laboratories.

Six main fields of study
