European PhD

The European PhD-certificate is an additional title which may be awarded by higher education institutions when the following four conditions are met :

the PhD student must spend at least one trimester preparing the thesis in another EU country.
authorization to defend the thesis is granted in light of written reports from at least 2 professors from 2 higher education institutions in 2 different countries. The correspondents may not belong to the institution where the thesis is to be defended.
at least one jury member must belong to a European higher education institution other than the one where the student will be defending the thesis.
part of the oral presentation must be in a European language other than that of the country where the student will be defending the thesis.

Young researchers both at UTC as well at our international partner institutions are encouraged to apply for an European PhD, which can be done at our doctoral school ("Ecole doctorale").
