Fundamental studies (2 years)

The first two years consist of general studies which allow students to freely choose between the different scientific fields such as : mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, computer basics, mechanics & design, programming... while getting an introduction to humanities, social sciences and management.

Being able to freely choose courses helps students to work out their education project which will then mature during their major studies. At the UTC it is important to be able to freely choose your final engineering orientation.

Objectives

  •  discover what you really want to do, gain confidence and think on your own
  •  develop adaptability, personal initiative and autonomy
  •  become aware of other cultures
  •  be able to make an educational choices in accordance with your personal interests and carrer objectives

Academic year

The academic year is divided into 2 semesters of 16 weeks separated by two intersemesters about 4 weeks (February and July - August).

The first semester usually runs from first week of September until the end of January and the second semester from the end of February until the end of June.

The intersemester period is an unique opportunity for students to take part in cultural or educational activities which, due to their nature, cannot take place during a semester : for example a seminar on interculturality, a discovery trip to other countries or continents or an intensive language course.
