The Major in Interacting Complex Systems is an integral part of the Labex "System of Systems Control" education program. It benefits from the Government label as a “laboratory of excellence” (Spring 2011), with 3 joint UTC/CNRS research units : BMBI (UMR 6600), Heudiasyc (UMR 7253) and Roberval (UMR 6253).
The concept of "Technological system of systems" (TSoS) refers to interconnecting autonomous technological systems. A TSoS is therefore a complex system of a particular type, created by the systematic and dynamic assembly of various interacting sub-systems that can collaborate, or be used conjointly, to carry out certain assigned tasks. TSoSs could, for example, be a flotilla of small UAVs, multimodal transport systems, sensor networks, etc.
MICS is also interested by much smaller scales but where, nonetheless, there is a high complexity due to the numerous interactions and/or the heterogeneity of the elements. Examples here are to be found in biological or physiological systems (muscle-skeleton system, the uterine muscles …), palliative systems in living bodies (rehabilitation, artificial organs, labs on chips …) or yet again in mechatronic systems that integrate actuators and networking redundant sensors.
The objetives of the MICS program are to provide
future managers with excellent scientific
and technological expertise to study, simulate
and design of innovative Interacting Complex-Systems through a multidisciplinary system of systems approach.
