Heuristic and Diagnostic Methods for Complex Systems (Heudiasyc)

This research unit, created in 1980, undertakes research in automatics, decisions, imaging and computing while taking human factors into account. The objective is to find means of representation, analysis and control of technical systems which are submitted to criteria and constraints in scientific, technological, and economic terms as well as the impacts on society and individuals.

The scientific projects have been founded on the synergy between upstream and applied research in order to respond to social stakes such as: security, transportation, STIC, environment and
Health.  Research is organized on a matrix system.

Newly developed methods are put into use on experimental platforms in the research unit : instrumented vehicles, drones, facial expression recognition, communication networks, virtual reality, rail safety, medical imaging, etc.
The large spectre of this unit has allowed the creation of three UTC/CNRS laboratories : two with industrial partners (Suez Environment and he CETIM) and one at an international level, the Franco-Mexican Laboratory of Applied Automatics (LAFMAA,  which became a mixed CNRS unit in January 2008) in partnership with the LAG, the IRCCYN and the CINVESTAV.

Key words : Learning, form recognition, images, decisions, perception and command systems, algorithms for networks and optimization, documents and knowledge, transport
