Job posting - Research engineer & Postdoctoral position

Collaborative design learning using digital tactile platform at

Université de Technologie de Compiègne (UTC)


The University of Technology at Compiegne is recruiting a research engineer or postdoc for the project Cre@tion, part of the Digital Hall platform in the Department of Technology and Human Sciences at UTC, COSTECH lab. The post is for a period of three years.

The Cre@tion project focuses on collaborative work and its learning around digital tactile devices allowing the simultaneous interaction of several people on the same shared surface.

The general hypothesis is that the introduction of these devices will modify both the ways in which we collaborate (in particular the methods of collaboration), and lead to specific learning of these collaboration methods and induce a specific pedagogy.

This project is financed by the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research.


Mission:

The research engineer/postdoc will participate in the research project and assume the technical responsibility for the Digital Hall research platform.


Main activities:

As head of the Digital Hall research platform, he/she will:

• Manage the platform and ensure access to users,

• Provide technical coordination of the Cre@tion research project in conjunction with partners (and UTC services when necessary),

• Contribute to defining research protocols with the research team,

• Prepare and organize research experiments,

• Organize data collection, processing and analysis,

• Contribute to the platform’s evolution (including hardware and software evolution in connection with suppliers and partners),

• Contribute to scientific publications.


Required Skills:

Education and Degree: Master’s degree in engineering design or computer sciences. Experience in research, PhD preferred.

You have skills in research and project management, you are comfortable coordinating with teacher-researchers as well as coordinating the technical tasks in which you participate. New educational approaches are of interest to you and you have an affinity for digital technologies.

You are recognized for your autonomy, sense of teamwork and rigor. Your organization, your pragmatism and your reactivity will enable you to be operational quickly.

An experience in writing scientific articles, participation in conferences, teaching and / or computer development would be a plus.


Environment and working context:

The activity is carried out at the UTC Innovation Center. The research engineer/postdoc reports to the Cré@tion project’s scientific leader. In charge of coordinating the Cre@tion project, you are working in a stimulating environment in contact with teachers, researchers, students, starts ups and people from industry.

You guarantee the smooth running of the project’s experiments carried out with users and in connection with researchers and UTC technical services.

You will participate in the promotion and dissemination of the research project by contributing to publications.

Type of contract:

Fixed-term contract for 3 years from December 2017


Experience:

Gross monthly wage: 2,500 €, negotiable according to experience

37.30 hours / week - 1,607 hours / year
