Current research concerns the
development of numerical tool for studying multi-physics coupling
applied to urban environment. Due to large scales in space and time, it
is necessary to use dedicated methods well adapted to
thermics/aeraulics
coupling (dual/hybrid/classical finite methods).
Fluid-structure coupling
processing chain, parallel
version based on a modular approach and domain decomposition approach:
one solver per physics and a parallel environment to establish a
dialogue between all of them in order to regularly update the common
data they share.
- fluid solver : compressible, viscous, ALE approach,
shock capturing technique,
- structure solver: dynamic effects, geometrical
nonlinearities,
- fast mesh deformation technique: Moving Submesh Approach MSA
(IJNME, 2008)
Main application in the development
of numerical tools for the analysis of the phenomena of
fluid-structure coupling within the propellers of engine rockets
(partnership CNES/ONERA/SNECMA/ASTRIUM, research group ATAC).
Improvement of the Pekkari's
model (1994, Volvo), dedicated to the prediction of the aeroelastic
frequency shift in engine rockets in the presence of an internal shock
(overexpanded flows). The improvement of this model results from a
finer analysis of the coupling obtained from the processing chain.
Iterative and staggered
coupling
scheme extended to high density fluid flows in order to ensure the
convergence property. This latter is similar to a preconditioning
technique and is based on an estimation of the added mass matrix
related to the flexible structure.
Without this approach, the convergence is not ensured, difficult or
even impossible beyond a critical fluid density. The applications
concern as well rigid body motions (squat, networks
) that elastic deformation cases.
