Applying for admission to the UTC HuTech cursus

The Technology, Social Sciences and Humanities cursus (HuTech) is open for candidates with L (art and literature, ES (economic and social sciences) and S (science-intensive) Baccalaureates.

› Applications are lodged via the Parcoursup, post-bac site.

› NB - Lycée students in the Bac S stream who also apply for the Core Programme are not required to pay extra registration fees.

› The selection results are published on the Parcoursup site.

Selection on school record assessment and interview

The 'admissibility' phase - a jury examine the applicants' school records, letter of motivation, CVs and make a preselection of ''admissible" candidates; the latter are invited to two personal interviews (one with a psychologist and one with a lecturer). Applicants who do not pass this phase are notified by e-mail or post.

In regard to the interview, a degree of preparation is required so that the interview can focus can be part-personal part content oriented.

This preparatory work (explains on a special site), consists of:

  • reading a text that represents some key features of the HuTech cursus (epistemology/ history of techniques and technologies in a field where engineers can work - biology, computer science, urban planning ...
  • identifying a topic which echoes the article read above, or illustrates its contents ... and which at the same time interests the applicant and which may (a projection at this early stage) be a field in which he/she could work. The interview will refer necessarily to the text and the comments/exchange will be a key factor in the selection criteria.

The UTC apprenticeship training scheme

UTC proposes apprenticeship training schemes for two of its engineering diploma majors: mechanical engineering and computer sciences and applications.

Recruitment for an apprenticeship is identical to that for the "classic" engineering diploma cursus. Note, however, that there is no admission session in February.

Apprentice recruitment

  • January- April: applications are to be lodged on www.utc.fr (with the same procedure as for other student engineers)
  • April - May: registration of the first offers for apprenticeships from the enterprise partners
  • Mid-May: admission of candidates and training in view of seeking an apprenticeship contract
  • End-May - Early June: Special Day "Engineers and apprenticeships"
  • June - August: recruitment interviews and contract signatures (24 apprentices in each promotion)
  • Early September: UTC course commencement

› Before any contract is formally signed, a personal contract is drafted to validate the march between the training offered and the expectations for the host company (Manpower Manager and Apprentice Master).
