Specialty – Design and Innovation of Bio-Products (GB-CIB)

The objective of the GB-CIB specialty is to train engineers both competent in biotechnologies in general and able to manage transverse projects, technology transfer and who display a ‘spirit’ of innovation.

Programme

MGB-CIB training relies on the latest bio-engineering techniques along with acquisition of knowledge about associate industrial equipment and processes. Specifically, courses cover molecular technologies used for DNA and protein analysis, metabolic and cell sciences, immunotechnologies and agro-resources as well as industrial operations need for production.

Specifically the courses are:

  • Metabolism
  • Protein engineering
  • Molecular and genetic biotechnologies
  • Agro-resources
  • Process management
  • Colloidal solutions and systems
  • Matter transfer
  • Separation techniques

Placements and industrial relations

GB-CIB students spend 6 months on placements and 6 months on their end-of-studies project work (preferably in an industrial sector except those who intend to pursue in research).

Professional openings

GB-CIB graduates usually find jobs with major international groups (Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, L'Oréal, Sanofi, Guerbet, Virbac, Pall, Servier, Johnson & Johnson, Elli Lilly, UCB Pharma, Novo Nordisk, Groupe Soufflet, Diagnostica Stago, LVMH, Biorad, Stallergènes, Pierre Fabre, ...), with innovatve SMEs (InCellArt, Cellectis, Abliance, Celogos, PX'Therapeutics, Serial Genetics, Mablife, ...) or with the main French research institutions (CEA, Institut Pasteur, Institut Curie, Institut Gustave Roussy, CNRS, INRA, INSERM, EFS, ...) or even directly abroad with other employers.

They can be found principally in industrial R&D, in production, technology transfer, biotechnological innovation, QA and regulatory agencies and in environment-intensive sectors.

Add-on training modules

UTC also offers GB-CIB students the possibly to study for:

  • a Master " Transformation and Industrial Valorization of Agro-resources"

  • a Master " Product formulation engineering"

  • a Master " Quality Assessment Management "

  • PhD in Biotechnologies

› The above courses and other, shorter modules, in the same thematic areas, whether leading to a diploma award or not, can be obtained in the UTC Continuous Education scheme or via the Professional experience validation scheme (VAE).
