  • Connected and Automated Warehouse.
  • As part of the AM23 course "Production System and Digital Factory" on Industry 4.0 technologies, I co-designed and developed a project centered around a connected and automated warehouse using Lego Mindstorm EV3. In this project, students are required to build their robots using Lego Mindstorm EV3 and program them to move and load/unload pallets in a connected and automated warehouse. They must also configure a central intelligence unit that communicates with the robots. This project exposes students to the same challenges faced by industries automating their warehouses, and allows them to implement skills in mechanical design as well as programming. It also addresses the question of choosing between a fully centralized intelligence, fully decentralized intelligence, or a mix of both. For its first edition, the project led to several improvements proposed by students for the design of the robots, the warehouse, robot programming, and the configuration of the central control unit.
