Heat Transfer at Wall

Wall heat transfer is used in a number CFB processes, mainly in "Power Stations". The mechanism of heat transfer in risers is based on a quite complicated phenomena including "Clusters-Wall", "Gas-Wall" and "Lean Phase-Wall" component with convection conduction and radiation.

The results published in the scientific literature are always related to some "Global" measurements done on some CFB coal combustors.

A big number of these models are simply based on some correlation giving the heat transfer coefficient as a function of suspension density (this last parameter can be calculated from the bed characteristics). However, some of other models try to take into account the effect of the phenomena named above. The complexity of the system is due to the presence of the solid falling film on the wall and the role of solid clusters in the global heat transfer.

Ergun CFB Software provide a set of useful complementary models where "Conduction", "Convection" and radiation components are taken into consideration.
