The strong restraints of both the energy transition and the concern for sovereignty guide much of the research carried out at UTC. With the rise of electromobility, batteries are at the heart of many research topics, particularly in UTC’s Roberval and Avenues laboratories. Issues such as battery ageing, durability and performance and reuse are being developed. UTC has proposed solutions for recharging batteries in a matter of minutes, for increased safety, and for a better understanding of how batteries work in relation to their environment. This work benefits battery integrators (automotive, aeronautics, rail, networks, etc.) and their manufacturers. This is particularly true for the development of sodium-ion batteries, a technology that would eliminate the need for critical materials.
